Jodhpur , The Sun City

The second largest city in Rajasthan, and also one of the three major cities included in the "Desert Tourist Triangle"; Jodhpur is majestically situated on the edge of the Thar Desert. One of the most popular destinations in the desert state, Jodhpur was once the center of Marwar -- the biggest princely state in Rajputana. Jodhpur is known as the "Sun City" because of its bright and sunny weather throughout the year.

Pilgrimages in Rajasthan

The Indian desert state of Rajasthan -- which is much famous for its many forts, palaces, lakes, sand dunes, history and culture -- is also home to several renowned religions such as Hinduism, Islam and Jainism. In fact, people, cutting across religious divides, live peacefully and in perfect harmony with one another in the state.

Founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II, Udaipur is located on the banks of the picturesque Lake Pichola and the lake of Fatehsagar, in the southern part of the Indian state of Rajasthan.
