Rajasthan at Glance >> Desert Triangle of Rajasthan

The land of the rajas and maharajas, Rajasthan is also the land of the brave Rajputs much renowned for their unmatched chivalry. But Rajasthan is also the place of the Thar Desert -- the mammoth desert with golden sunsets and the wind–caressed sand dunes.

The desert is home to the three famous cities of Rajasthan -- Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner that famously make the Desert Triangle of Rajasthan, one of the most visited tourist circuits in India. The Desert Circuit tour captures the true spirit of the state's eye catching arts and crafts, historic heritage and unique traditions.

Jodhpur
Perched majestically at the edge of the Thar Desert, Jodhpur is a city full of life and cheer. The fortress-city of Jodhpur, which is the second largest city of Rajasthan, was a key trade center of the 16th century A.D. The massive 15th century A.D. Mehrangarh Fort dominates the city skyline, and is situated atop a rocky hill. Jodhpur is enclosed with a high wall which is 10 km long and has 8 gates, besides countless bastions.

Jaisalmer
The city of beautiful havelis, shimmering desert, camels, and, of course, the imposing 12th century Jaisalmer Fort, Jaisalmer is a famous tourist attraction of Rajasthan and a key destination in the Desert Triangle of Rajasthan. This medieval town is also much renowned for its wonderful sand dunes, and hostile and forbidding terrain - all of which create a special magic.

Bikaner
Bikaner, much celebrated for its tasty snacks and sweetmeats, is the imperial fortified city with an ageless appeal. Bikaner is dotted with many sand dunes and is situated to the north of Rajasthan. Bikaner has awe-inspiring forts, palaces and lovely temples - all of which show the rich heritage of the place. One of the many highlights of Bikanar, the camel country, is the annual camel festival that attracts visitors from all parts of the world.
